IEEE SB CET Special Interest Group (SIG) in AI and IEEE SB CET Computer Society, in collaboration with DSC CET, organized a webinar on OCR using TensorFlow, hosted by Shajan Dasan, a Machine Learning Engineer at Twitter and an alumni of CET, which included an interactive Q&A session at the end.

The webinar began with an introduction by SIG member Rohith Chivukula. The speaker covered:

• An introduction to Machine Learning.
• The simplified concepts behind neural networks, specifically relating to OCR.
• Using TensorFlow and the MNIST dataset for character recognition.
• A technical session on building a model with Keras to recognize handwritten characters.

During the Q&A session, the speaker answered nine questions from the audience relating to getting into machine learning, the workings of ML at Twitter, and the ethics of AI.
