WIE Affinity Group of IEEE SB CET organised a Webinar on ‘ Combustion- In the lab and out in the real world’. The Webinar session was taken by Dr. Krishna Sesha Giri, Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology, Palakkad.
Fascinated by the interesting interactions in nature from the burning of a flame of a candle to the complex phenomena of combustion in large boilers in refineries, WIE Affinity Group of IEEE SB CET decided to organize a Webinar on something related. To help understand the topic in depth , Dr. Krishna Sesha Giri, an eminent maestro in the field of heat and mass transfer was invited to handle the session. He talked about the ubiquitous nature of combustion and its varied applications. He also talked about taming fire, studying them in laboratories and covered the novel aspects of studies using optical diagnostics. He shared details about the various researches he has done on the topic and its progress and outcome. At the end, he also shared solved problems on the topic to help understand the topic better. The session was organised on Google Meet platform. The scheduled time was from 05:00 pm to 06:00 pm but it extended till 06:30 pm. The first 75 minutes was taken forward by the speaker with his talk. The remaining time was available for the attendees to ask any questions and clear their doubts. The webinar was open to both students and working people. Around 25 people attended the session.
